So very pleased with the service and treatment I received as an NHS patient for the removal of basal cell carcinoma. From my first point of contact with Ali who answered my questions, to Steve who provided helpful information prior to and after surgery. Last but not least Dr Orlando who performed the surgery, put me at ease and is extremely skilful. There were no issues with the healing and the scar is looking so good after just a couple of weeks. The medical profession at my doctors surgery were very impressed at how well and quickly the layers are healing. I am most grateful to Dr. Antonio Orlando for his specialized, skilled surgery in Bristol nearer to my Welsh home, when I needed a high level of care. Unfortunately, the politics of the WHS (Welsh Health Service) meant I had to fight to get treated in Bristol. The WHS insisted my treatment should take place in Wales regardless of travel distance! For Welsh residents living on the border of England, this is terrible. It is very sad that our NHS has been split up into separately run health services, especially the one in Wales. I was so relieved when I found that Dr. Orlando could help, especially as it was so much easier to travel to. He is one of very few surgeons who specialised in my condition privately... shockingly there are NONE in Wales!!! Dr. Orlando gave me an extremely high level of specialist care and my surgery was undertaken promptly and successfully.
